Mudanya, Bursa's most important gateway to the sea, is the city's most popular coastal destination with its hills covered with olive trees, spacious coastal promenade, Ottoman-Greek common civil architecture and the peace treaty that shaped the history of the Republic. The district, which can be reached directly from Istanbul by sea buses (BUDO and İDO), is an indispensable address for daily and weekend getaways.

Main Places to Visit

1. Mudanya Armistice House Museum

It is the historical white mansion where the Mudanya Armistice Agreement dated 11 October 1922, which ended the War of Independence with victory in the military field and laid the diplomatic foundations of the Republic of Türkiye, was signed. The negotiation rooms of İsmet İnönü and allied generals, the marble table where the treaty was signed and historical documents are exhibited in the museum.

2. Historical Giritli Neighborhood (Piageli) and Wooden Mansions

The historical neighborhood lying behind the Mudanya cordon is an authentic settlement settled by Turks who came from the island of Crete during the 1923 Türkiye-Greece population exchange. It has the most photogenic street texture of the city with its colorful bay-windowed wooden houses, flowered windows, boutique cafes and art workshops.

3. Historical Tirilye Town and Stone School

The ancient coastal town of Tirilye (Zeytinbağı), 11 kilometers away from Mudanya; It defies time with its narrow stone streets, world-famous table olives, neoclassical monumental Stone School built in 1909, Fatih Mosque (Old Aya Todori Church) and Dündar House.

4. Yıldıztepe Observation Terrace

Located on the Mudanya-Tirilye road, on steep cliffs at an altitude of 120 meters, Yıldıztepe is the undisputed number 1 spot in Bursa to watch the sun set over the Marmara Sea.

What to Eat in Mudanya?

At the fish restaurants along the promenade, you should try fresh Marmara Fish (Single Mullet, Mullet, Haddock, Horse Mackerel), Aegean-Cretan appetizers with olive oil (sea beans, fava, stuffed zucchini flowers), the famous Tirilye Table Olives and Turkish delight with fresh walnuts baked in ovens.

• Sea Transportation: BUDO sea buses departing from Istanbul Eminönü/Sirkeci dock directly at Mudanya Pier (1 hour 50 minutes).
• Inner City: From Bursa center, you can get off at Bursaray Organized Industrial Station and reach Mudanya in 20 minutes by 1/M public bus.
