Yıldırım district, built on the steep northern slopes of Uludağ in the east of Bursa, is the cradle of the early spiritual, architectural and cultural identity of the Ottoman Empire. It hosts one of the richest tourism axes of the city, from the 700-year-old early Ottoman foundation village Cumalıkızık to the Green Tomb, famous for its tiles, and from Emir Sultan, the spiritual protector of the city, to the Cable Car line leading to Uludağ.

Main Historical Stops to Visit

1. Cumalıkızık Village (UNESCO World Heritage Site)

It is the only example of the 7 Kızık villages founded by the Ottomans before the conquest of Bursa that has survived to the present day without damaging its texture. It takes its visitors on a journey back in time to the 14th century with its narrow cobblestone streets, wooden and adobe houses with colorful bay windows, Cin Aralığı street and the village museum. Pancakes and village breakfast prepared by women's cooperatives in the village are famous.

2. Green Complex and Green Tomb

The Green Mosque and the Green Tomb, built in 1419-1424 by Çelebi Mehmed, who reconvened the state after the Interregnum, are the aesthetic peak reached by Ottoman art. The octagonal Green Tomb, shining with turquoise, cobalt and green tiles, is the universal symbol of the city. Today, the social complex madrasah serves as the Turkish Islamic Arts Museum.

3. Emir Sultan Mosque and Social Complex

The complex, built in the 15th century in the name of the great Sufi Emir Sultan, a descendant of the Prophet, and his wife Hundi Hatun (daughter of Yıldırım Bayezid), is one of the most visited spiritual shrines in Türkiye after Eyüp Sultan. It offers a unique atmosphere of peace with its large marble courtyard and centuries-old cypresses.

4. Bursa Cable Car Summit Station (Teferrüç)

The starting station of Bursa Teleferik, one of the longest non-stop cable car lines in the world with a length of 9 kilometers, is in Yıldırım Teferrüç neighborhood. You can go to Uludağ Sarıalan and Hotels Region in 22 minutes, watching the view of the Bursa plain.

Transportation and Visiting Tips

• Transportation to Cumalıkızık: After reaching Cumalıkızık-Değirmenönü station with Bursaray, you can reach the village in 5 minutes by minibuses.
• Green and Emir Sultan: It can be easily visited with a 10-15 minute walk from the sculpture center or by public buses.
